Copenhagen Diary // part 2 

As a follow up to the blog post I did yesterday about my days in Copenhagen and everything I have been doing, here is Copenhagen Diary part two! 

Thursday I took my boyfriend to see my grandfather’s house located in the Northern part of Copenhagen. It is, hands down, one of my favorite places in this world, whether it is winter, summer, spring, or fall, this place is amazing. We had a Danish lunch, and then I took my boyfriend on a canoe ride on my grandfather’s lake. It has been so cold in Copenhagen, so all the flowers that would usually bloom by now, hadn’t sprung out yet.

After some hours at my grandfather’s house I took the car back to Copenhagen and went to Vesterbro to visit my childhood friend in her Copenhagen townhouse she shares with three friends – an amazing place. I brought the burger macaroons that my boyfriend got me from Paris, and they weren’t only looks, they actually tasted good. After having coffee, cake, and a lot of catching up, I left my friend to have dinner at home with my family. When family dinner was over, I took my boyfriend for a walk to Café Pixie at Bopa Plads, one of my favorite places in the part of Copenhagen where I live, to meet another good friend. It is so great being back in Copenhagen seeing all my old friends after many months away traveling.

Friday morning (what seemed very early to me) my friend whom I met in Berlin came to knock my door and take me out to brunch – luckily it was a very good one – at Mad og Kaffe which translates to food and coffee. The café opened recently but has already won price of the year as best Copenhagen café, and after my first visit here I can already say that I am a fan. The two friends I met here where leaving for Roskilde Festival the day after, so they were a bit stressed out about getting everything ready for eight days of camping in mud, drinking too many beer, and listening to good music.

After brunch I met my boyfriend for some sale shopping in the city center. We had a late lunch/early dinner at Sticks ‘n’ Sushi – another really good restaurant in Copenhagen.    

When we got back home, it was time for another Danish graduation tradition – the whole high school class drives around in a truck a whole day to visit every family of the graduates. The families serves drinks and food and the graduates aim after getting drunk (Danish mentality, haha), celebrating and having fun. My brother’s high school class came to my parent’s house and of course we wanted to be there to witness the drunk high school students and wish them all congratulations and good luck. My boyfriend and I were even invited to go one stop with the truck, and it all reminded me of two years ago when I did the whole graduation and truck driving.

Saturday morning I got up even earlier to take a day trip to Denmark’s second biggest city, Århus. My parents bought a new car that they had to pick up, and we thought we would make a little day trip out of it. We arrived early, took a walk around the city, did some shopping and had lunch.

When lunch was over we went to see the art museum Aros. Long story short, we spent hours there – it was an amazing museum, and it had so many creative, different exhibitions like the “Your rainbow panorama” by artist Olafur Eliasson, which was absolutely stunning! I am going to do a separate post about the Aros art museum, because I have so many pictures to show you from there.
