New York Guide vol. 2

In December I went to visit my boyfriend in New York and we had a couple of days there before leaving to the sun in Miami. To be honest we weren’t acting like the best tourist because it was so cold, so we spent a lot of time indoor watching Mockingjay and getting manicures and pedicures, and of course going out to eat. When in New York… One of the perks of having a boyfriend who grew up in Brooklyn is that he has a lot of cool spots he showed me and took me to.

♥ The Bemelmans Bar

The Bemelmans Bar is the hotel bar to The Carlyle Hotel. On the walls, lamps  and ceilings in the bar there are murals drawed by the creator of the classic Madeline children’s books, Ludwig Bemelmans. The bar is cozy, dark in the right way and the murals create an amazing atmosphere.

♥  Miss Favela

Located in Brooklyn this Brazilian place gives you the best of both worlds. Great food and great atmosphere. This is the place where you can eat a little bit and then stand up and dance around between the tables with all the other people dancing around to a remix of Brazilian music and classic pop songs mixed together.

♥ Sweet Chick

Sweet Chick is located both in Soho and in Brooklyn. We went to the one in Brooklyn and had an orgie of breakfast. Everything you could ask for for breakfast is on Sweet Chick’s menucard – fresh fruits, pancakes, waffles, fried chicken (which they are known for), french fries, burgers, eggs… You name it.

♥ On The Grind

A café in Brooklyn which makes you feel like you could be in a “Girls” episode. The space is beautifully decorated and they serve amazing donuts, great soups and good coffee. We had a cozy time here where we spent at least an hour while it was snowing outside.

♥ The Bedford

On Bedford Avenue where hundreds of cool spots are located side by side we found this little restaurant only decorated with wooden stuff. We went the American way and had burgers and fries and one of us dared to be different and had a breakfast burrito with bacon and scramble eggs and home fries on the side. Oh, so good!

I think about New York, its charm and endless opportunities often and I can’t wait to go back again.
