New Year resolutions

10866837_10152887678317310_1631446402_nLike every year, the days up to New Year’s Eve are for New Year resolutions. Like every year the resolutions are always about promises to lose weight (how I can’t wait till January where the gym is filled with all the people that made resolutions about going to the gym and/or loosing weight), eat healthy all the time, never eat sucker again, always be happy and earn a lot of money and spend less. I mean, who are we fooling? Ourselves at least. I think the last years of making too big promises for the New Year resolutions taught me that it is better to start smaller and make resolutions that are actually possible to keep.

2014 has been a crazy year in many ways. I changed job many times, met new people, got in a new relationship, and for now I juggle three jobs. For 2015 I need to start figuring out how I juggle it the best way and what I want to achieve for the coming year so I can be the best version of me.

So let’s see… What do I wanna do in 2015?

♥ Work out more – there it is already. First point on the list. Well! I am not promising to go to the gym every day for hours, I just want to get better at going to the gym, especially because of the single fact – it makes me happy, and working out is truthfully a gift to the body, mind and soul.

♥ Start doing yoga – it has been my plan for months and I actually found a place to go already. I am hoping to become more flexible and also that yoga will help me relax more in my sometimes rather stressed everyday.

♥ Travel – for 2015 I would love to go on a safari in Tanzania and to add new European cities to my map.

♥ Be truly present and see my friends more – the past few months I feel like I’ve been really bad at seeing my friends. Most of the time I feel like I am working, and after work it is dark, cold and I feel hungry and tired. It is way too easy to just go home, binge on Netflix and sleep, and the next thing I know, I haven’t seen some of my friends for months. It stresses me, because it makes me feel like all I do is working, so for the next year, friends! I want to spend more time with you.

♥ Focus on the good and be happy. I am one of those people that unfortunately sometimes have an easier time to seeing bad things and complain more instead of focusing on the good things. I don’t want to be one of those annoying types that always have something to complain about, so I will definetly try to be more optimistic than pessimistic, more optimistic than negative, and more happy than sad.

♥ Worry less. I am also one of those people that tend to worry about everything. I am anxious that small or unimportant things wont work out and I always have things in my mind that I worry about. It doesn’t really make sense, because it takes so much energy to walk around and be worried the whole time. Especially because usually things work out naturally, and then I spent and wasted my time and energy being worried for nothing. I need to learn to relax and let it go and be less in control.

Okay, looking over these bullets again, I can see that my resolutions is quite a mouthful anyway. But then let’s see it as another step on the journey to becoming more comfortable in my own skin and get to know myself better!
